Extra hands are needed for the Peconic Land Trust’s annual seeding workshop. Work side by side with Farm Manager Layton Guenther to plant a variety of seeds in the trays destined for the greenhouse, and learn about the importance of making and using compost. All participants are invited to return on May 19 to transplant the seedlings into the fields of the Farm. Free! Rain or shine. Please park on Deep Lane, reached via Town Lane or Side Hill Lane, and meet Layton at the farm’s greenhouse.

Introduction to the SoFo Shark Research & Education Program: Family/Children Ages 6 & Older
Presentation by SoFo Shark Research & Education Program Leaders: Greg Metzger, Chief Field Coordinator, and Dr. Tobey Curtis, Lead Scientist and Fisheries Manager at NOAA Fisheries In January, SoFo announced a new shark science endeavor titled the SoFo Shark Research and Education Program. This SoFo-led initiative encompasses a collaboration of scientists, educators, and fishermen for the conservation and sustainability of several shark species that inhabit our waters. The Program gets underway in May of this year. Get ahead of the program launch by attending this information-packed introduction as Greg and Tobey enlighten everyone on the vulnerability of sharks, inform attendees about shark life cycles and ecology, and discuss the objectives of the research and education program. Toby will tell you about the history of the project and answer your science related questions, while Greg will explain the fieldwork component and tell you about the project’s exciting internship program. If you are at all interested in sharks, this presentation is for you!Advance reservations are required. Programs free for SoFo members. Non-members: $15/ adult, $10/child 3-12 years, 2 and under free. Fees include free admission to the museum on the day of the event.
