Join Carbon CREW Project, Drawdown East End, Damon Gameau, and Southampton Arts Center for an array of virtual talks, workshops, and films on ways that we can participate in “regenerating” our earth and reversing climate devastation.

Project Drawdown’s mission is to help the world reach “drawdown” – the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change – as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. Together, we can accelerate Drawdown climate solutions in our communities.

Two women, Janis and Ana, coincide in a hospital room where they are going to give birth. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Janis, middle-aged, doesn’t regret it and she is exultant. The other, Ana, an adolescent, is scared, repentant and traumatized. Janis tries to encourage her while they move like sleepwalkers along the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours will create a very close link between the two, which by chance develops and complicates, and changes their lives in a decisive way.

Meet near the Schoolhouse Plaque (Van Scoy graveyard and home site) on Northwest Road, East Hampton. The out-and-back hike will begin on the Grace Estate and skirt Scoy Pond and Alewive Pond. Cross Alewive Brook Road and enter Cedar Point Park. The Northwest Woods trail will lead us to a beautiful view of Gardiners Bay!

The beautiful and majestic white pine and oak forest of Wilson’s Grove Preserve, donated to the Peconic Land Trust by Marillyn Wilson in 2008, is a wonderful gift to the community and a vital link in the Paumanok Preserve system of trails. The site contains a locally rare woodland, composed of majestic towering white pine and oak. Join Paul for a hike through this incredibly unique location.

SOFO: Full “Wolf Moon” Hike

Join us to mark the first full moon of this year on this leisurely-paced, one-hour hike through Vineyard Field’s, the field behind SOFO, open-field trails. Stay afterward for some light refreshments and convivial conversation. Legend has it that native tribes related this moon to the nighttime howling of wolves, thus the name. Hikes are limited to 25 participants, so please register early. To register email: greenbeltnews@aol.com.  Masks are required for this walk.

Seal Walk At Cupsogue Beach County Park

With the cold of winter, many northern animal visitors come to the South Shore of Long Island to find food—among them Pinnipeds, or seals. The three most common species of seals that visit Long Island at this time of year are Harbor Seals, Grey Seals, and Harp Seals. Join us on a walk toward the ocean at Cupsogue Beach County Park, where at low tide you can expect to see some of these seals sunning themselves on the distant sandbar. It may be cold and windy, so please bundle up.
