WHERE:

Art Gallery at the Quogue Library
90 Quogue Street
Quogue

Artist Mary Daunt has taken much of her inspiration from her daily observations of the Napeague dunes, in all seasons, as she travels between her home in Montauk and East Hampton. Depending on the time of year, the colors range from bright reds and rich purples to the varied shades of green in spring and summer. Her medium of choice is pastels, which allow her to work for short or long periods of time, deriving immediate gratification. While her pastel drawings let the paper show through, her pastel paintings use many layers which cover the paper entirely. Ms. Daunt has exhibited in many solo and group shows on the East End, including at the Southampton Cultural Center, the Guild Hall Members Show (Honorable Mention), the Delaney Cooke Gallery in Sag Harbor and the Depot Gallery in Montauk. She graduated from York Academy of Art in York, PA and studied at the Art Barge in Amagansett. Art Gallery Committee member Lulie Morrisey is chair of this show, which will be on view from January 4 to 31.
