Sag Harbor Cinema: Perfect Days

Ongoing Run

Sag Harbor Cinema
90 Main St,
Sag Harbor, NY 11963

A beautiful tale woven by master German filmmaker Wim Wenders and acclaimed Japanese actor Koji Yakusho, Perfect Days is a work of fiction with the feel of a documentary. Hirayama (Koji Yakusho) works as a public toilet cleaner in Shibuya, Tokyo. His is a calm, quiet existence. Every day, he wakes up at the same time, gets ready the same way, and works the same way. Though his life may seem monotonous, no two days are ever the same, and he steps into each new day with a serene optimism. Hirayama’s way of life exudes a gentle beauty. He loves trees and gazing at komorebi, the shimmering of light and shadows that is created by leaves swaying in the wind. But unexpected events create ripples in his life that reach back into his past.

The Art of William Sidney Mount In Southampton

Saturday, February 24th, 2024
11:00am – 12:00pm

Rogers Memorial Library
91 Coopers Farm Rd
Southampton, NY 11968

Nineteenth-century artist William Sidney Mount’s paintings depict scenes of what once was the rural life on the north shore of Long Island. Born in Setauket, his artwork features many people of color, agricultural laborers, domestic workers, and musicians from the Three Village area (Stony Brook, Setauket, and Old Field) and the nearby communities. In The Art of William Sidney Mount: Long Island People of Color on Canvas, a deeply researched labor of love, authors Katherine Kirkpatrick and Vivian Nicholson-Mueller profile the long-forgotten people in eleven of Mount’s paintings. Join Vivian Nicholson-Mueller on this historical journey as she publicly honors the once anonymous models by name. Refreshments will be served.
