Featured Dining: Rumba

Long Island Restaurant Week at Rumba Hampton Bays

The “spirit” of Rumba came to life by the hearts and souls of Rachel and David Hersh. They took their love of great food and combined it with the feeling of an island getaway. Their goal: “ To create a place where everyone who visits is transported to a sun warmed island where there’s soft sand under your feet and a cool breeze blowing through your hair while enjoying a tasty meal and fun drinks.”

Rachel, an Eastern Long Island Native, met David in South Florida. From there they moved to various states around the U.S. before settling down for a while in New Orleans. There they lived for several years before they had the idea of selling it all and moving to the islands. They started traveling to the Caribbean in search of an island they could live “the good life”.

During their travels in search for an island to call home, they had a beautiful son named Jude Ayden. With the arrival of Jude they decided that there was only one island that would be best to settle down in and raise their family, Long Island.

So they set off for Long Island and found a beautiful restaurant location on the water that reminded them of a time when they were sharing rum punches in the Caribbean. That became the origin of Rumba, Inspired Island Cuisine and Rum Bar.

We really appreciate everyone who comes and joins us for an island getaway. Here at Rumba we are living in our Caribbean day dream everyday and we couldn’t do it if it wasn’t for all the beautiful people who come to our establishment for a great time. Thank you for sharing your time with us!

Seussical is a delightful musical celebration for the whole family. Seussical opened on Broadway in 2000, with music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (“Ragtime,” “Once on this Island”).
