East End Hospice’s For the Love of Children, Benefiting Camp Good Grief

Please support “For the Children with Love,” a gathering to support East End Hospice’s Camp Good Grief, which will be held on June 1, 2019 at Gardiner’s Bay Country Club on Shelter Island from 5–7 p.m.

The event, a primary source of funding for East End Hospice, will consist of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music, casino games and a children’s themed auction. In addition to being a fun and fabulous evening this benefit helps increase public awareness of East End Hospice’s Camp Good Grief.

Camp Good Grief is a ground-breaking bereavement day camp provided by East End Hospice for children who have experienced the profound loss of a loved one. Community support makes camp possible and allows hospice to offer this program free of charge for every child that attends camp. This summer, we expect over 170 children to participate in one-on-one and group therapy, art and music therapy, crafts, water sports and structured play under the guidance of trained therapists, staff and volunteers.

Please call the East End Hospice Development office at 631-288-7080 or email cmichne@eeh.org to purchase tickets to this special evening or make a donation.

ROSS AUTHORS NIGHT AT BOOKHAMPTON
Ross School and BookHampton are co-sponsoring the first–ever Ross Authors Night to highlight and celebrate the extraordinary literary talent in the Ross Community. Authors who are Ross parents, grandparents, and alumni will gather at BookHampton in East Hampton to sign books, answer questions, and read from their works. Those attending include:

Emma Walton Hamilton – Award-winning writer, producer, and arts educator and Ross parent. She has co-authored over thirty children’s books with her mother, Julie Andrews, eight of which have been on the New York Times best-seller list. The mother-daughter pair also co-created, wrote and produced the Emmy-nominated children’s series Julie’s Greenroom for Netflix in partnership with the Jim Henson Company.

Susan Verde – New York Times bestselling picture book author and Ross parent. Her books celebrate the unique experiences of children and share messages of empathy, kindness, global citizenship, creativity and more. In addition to writing Susan teaches yoga and mindfulness to children.

Chris Babu – Author of The Initiation series, a trilogy of young adult dystopian thrillers from Permuted Press. He’s a former Wall Street bond trader who has a math degree from MIT, lives in Southampton, and is a Ross parent.

Also in person will be Dr. Jane Aronson, leading humanitarian in the field of orphan care, to discuss her book Carried in Our Hearts: The Gift of Adoption, in which she presents first-person testimonies from families whose lives have been blessed by adoption including Ross parents Deborra-Lee and Hugh Jackman. Joining her will be Ellora Decarlo, a Ross parent who contributed her own story to Dr. Aronson’s book. Ms. Decarlo is an actor/writer/producer and Ross parent who has long been inspired by the creative art of storytelling. She is also the Co-Founder and President of Futuro de los Ninos Foundation and Co-Founder of the Guatemala900 Movement.

Signed books by Ross family members will also be available including works by Adriana Mather, Ross alumna and author of the New York Times bestselling How to Hang a Witch book series, Julie Andrews, Ross grandparent, legendary screen actress, and co-author of over thirty children’s books, and Joan Knight, Ross grandparent, translator, editor, and author of the beloved Charlotte children’s book series.
