Saturday, July 14th at 6pm
Dr. Maureen Raymo, one of the world’s foremost experts on climate change, will speak about her research on land, sea, and ice. Find out why today’s warming and extreme weather are unlike any past change in Earth’s climate—and what you can do to help. A paleoclimatologist, Dr. Raymo has devoted her career to researching natural climate variability—why ice ages happen, why carbon dioxide changes naturally in the atmosphere, and how the climate responds to those changes. Dr. Raymo’s talk will be followed by a Q&A with Nature Conservancy scientists Dr. Alison Branco, Coastal Director, and Nathan Woiwode, Acting Lead, North America Climate Adaptation, who will discuss the Conservancy’s climate work on Long Island and beyond. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. The event is co-sponsored by Sheryl Gold.
