The darkness of night reveals amazing celestial sights when man-made sky glow is reduced. Join the Trust and the Town of Southampton’s Dark Skies Committee for a fun program and open your eyes to the wonders above. Learn how light pollution affects animals and humans, and when sky glow is reduced, how to locate markers in the sky to view constellations. Astronomers Sean Tvelia and Dr. Mike Inglis, with telescopes, will be present for the evening, courtesy of Montauk Observatory. Bring a picnic and blanket starting at 6:30. Join local artist Jim Gingerich for a two-day exhibition of his recent paintings entitled “Out West” at the Sara Nightingale Gallery at 688 Montauk Hwy. in Water Mill, NY on Saturday, October 1. The Benefit Reception Opening, with wine & hors d’oeuvres from 5-9pm, will raise funds for Jim’s rehabilitation after his recent horse-riding accident. The Sag Harbor American Music Festival was created to celebrate the unique community of Sag Harbor through a weekend of FREE live performances of Jazz, Blues, Folk, R&B, Americana, Rock, Pop & more. Running September 29 – October 2, 2016, the sixth annual Festival will feature a main stage concert Old Whalers Church, 2 FREE days of music, a live music Dance Party and an original concert film of American Music Legends.
